The SWITCH team procure only the highest quality fair trade beans and then roast each origin individually to lock in their distinctive flavours. This process creates a truly exceptional coffee experience.

SWITCH Espresso was established by current owner Hamish Evans who, while working in cafes in Christchurch during the 1990's, developed a passion for espresso. This interest led him overseas to some of the world's most notable espresso hot-spots, including Italy's vibrant cafe culture and the productive landscapes of India's coffee farms. After his overseas (espresso) experience, Hamish returned to NZ and (in Brighton by the sea) opened SWITCH a local/boutique coffee company that roasts and blends premium espresso beans.

SWITCH Espresso embraces socially and environmentally sound practices in their quest for the perfect espresso. From day one, SWITCH has only roasted 100% fair trade and organic coffee beans and has participated in Landcare Research's CarboNZero Programme which empowers businesses to lift their environmental performance.

SWITCH Espresso has also won a GOLD medal at the reputable New Zealand Coffee Roasters Competition which voted our coffee the best ethically traded coffee in New Zealand. The SWITCH team are proud of this achievement, one which shows that sustainable practices can create the perfect espresso.
